Willie's Lilies - Grown In Scotland
Caring For Your Lilies

Upon receipt of your flowers, take the following steps to ensure optimum vase life:

  • Carefully remove your flowers from their packaging.
  • Cut around 3 to 4cms from each stem preferably using a clean, sharp pair of secatuers (alternatively a knife or scissors will do).
  • Clean your vase thoroughly, fill with fresh water, add flower food and mix well.
  • Place flowers in vase and make sure you top them up regularly with plenty of water to drink as you will find they are very thirsty.
  • For longer life avoid direct sunlight, draughts, excessive heat and ripening fruit!

CAUTION!
Take care when handling your lilies. Lily pollen is prone to staining and marks most things it comes into contact with. To avoid staining you may wish to:

  • Wear rubber or laytex gloves when handling your lilies.
  • Cut stamen (pollen heads) off when buds open.
  • Use sticky tape to remove pollen.

Never rub or use water when trying to remove pollen.

DID YOU KNOW?
You may be interested to know that:

  • All of our lilies will be cut within 24 hours of sending to you.
  • Most imported lilies arrive in boxes without water and, by the time they reach your florist, some have been out of water for up to five days. So, don’t’ worry when ours arrive without water, they will slowly start to open up as soon as you cut their stems and give them a drink.

ENVIRONMENT
Help us to look after the environment by:

  • Ensuring you recycle as much of our packaging as possible.
  • Composting your lilies when they are finished.
